Overtown, May 2004
On Saturday, May 15, 2004, Arthur Garcia Jr. was joined by Miami-Dade Justice Association members and friends in Overtown. This year's participants worked on two homes doing finishing work. As we cleaned windows, floors, painted doors, put up shelving, and doorknobs, excited new homeowners smiled and were thankful to the many Habitat volunteers. They would soon be handed the keys to their “palaces” and would join many other Miami-Dade residents in the pride of home-ownership. Many thanks to this year’s volunteers – Bette Ricci, Steve Ricci, Leighton O’Neill, Jorge “J.D.” Lorenzo, Eddie Lorenzo, Yara Garcia, Megan Leal-Garcia, Bob Brown, Diana Velasco, Susan Carlson, Doug Eaton, Valerie Manno, Alexandra Rolon, and Garrett Biondo.
